Going, Going, Gone Google!

googleapps

‘Going Google’ is the new ad campaign launched by Google to encourage the adoption of its suite of online applications at the corporate level. There is no doubt that Google Apps have completely changed the way we work and collaborate. Hence the new campaign is proving to be quite successful with people adoption the Apps quite fast.

This campaign is also being helped by an active twitter presence of the Google Apps team (http://twitter.com/GoogleAtWork). A simple search with the #gonegoogle hash-tag on the micro-blogging website will show you how the crowd is responding.

The ‘Going Google’ campaign primarily targets the business employees and the IT managers of the companies. The idea is to point out the fact that Google Apps will help out the companies in ways that were never possible before.

So what are these ways that will make the companies change their trusted email servers and custom software? The first point is definitely the cost-saving aspect. With Google Apps you are forever freed from the cost of buying and upgrading to newer software. The Apps are developed constantly and you will benefit from them automatically. No loss of workflow and no breaks.

Next is the collaborative design of these apps. Not only do they integrate well together but they are also designed to help you collaborated with your workmates and clients. And with Google Wave approaching late this year, things will never be the same again.

Spear heading the Google Apps movement is Google’s email solution – Gmail. Gmail, along with all the other Apps has recently gone off Beta. Gmail takes complete care of all the communication needs of the companies through its robust design. There is not doubt that it is one of the best, if not the best free email service around.

Companies can now use their own domain names with the emails to have name@company.com type email addresses and still run Gmail to handle all the email and also chatting.

Gmail gives you the option of opening relevant attachments within Google apps directly from within Gmail. It also recognizes emails containing event information and allows you to add them to your Google calendar. One user can maintain share and view multiple calendars, which makes juggling schedules much easier.

Google also offers a lot of space for very little money. For this much space to be allocated to each individual, the companies would usually require a huge amount of money. Thus in comparison, they end up saving a lot of money and effort.
