Android Reaches 20,000 Apps

Alright folks, this one could be looked back upon as a small milestone in a big phenomenon or it could be just a blip in the ever changing mobile OS scenario. But it is more likely to be the first option. Google’s Android has just crossed the 20,000 apps mark. That means it has achieved about 1/5th of the App Store’s last milestone. That does not mean however that the platform is lagging behind that much.

Intel Gulftown Chip Details Leaked

Intel’s Gulftown Chips have been leaked. Again. This time, they have been leaked in full detail and also as part of Intel’s roadmap for the coming year. It looks the previous rumors of the thing were pretty much spot on. It is a hexacore processor and it is a first for Intel.

Contrary some rumors though — the new hexacore CPUs that are code named Gulftown, will not be branded as ‘Core i9’. They will instead be branded as part of the Core i7 line and will carry an ‘x’ at the end. The upcoming processor will be sold as the Core i7-980x Extreme Edition.

Apple Receives Multiple Adweek Awards

Apple has received multiple Adweek awards in Adweek’s Best of 2000s awards. Adweek has awarded the company so many awards that it is seems a bit skewed. But since these awards are for marketing and advertising talent, Apple  (and Steve) deserves every bit of it.

So to start things off with a bang, Steve Jobs has been awarded the ‘Marketer of the Decade’ Award. If you think about his stunning keynotes and the ingenious ways he has marketed his products, you will know why he deserves this and more. He is the man who changed entire industries in fell sweeps. So this is something that he well and truly deserves.

Lenovo Has More ThinkPad Netbooks Lined Up

It seems like the X100e is just one of multiple ThinkPad branded netbooks that Lenovo is bringing out. Some new models were recently spotted on the FCC and they were all clubbed under the ThinkPad branding. This could get really exciting.

For those who have recently suffered a short term memory loss or are out from underneath their rocks to look for food — the X100e is a netbook from Lenovo that caused quite a stir in the tech world some time back. The reason for all the excitement around this device is quite understandable.

HTC Bravo AMOLED Snapdragon Android Phone

Yes folks, it is pretty real. HTC’s 2010 roadmap was recently released and it clearly shows that a 1GHz SnapDragon powered Android phone with a gorgeous screen really is in the making.

It looks like HTC has no clue about how to keep a lid on things. They have been constantly leaking  information and spy shots into the public. This time, their entire roadmap for 2010 has been leaked. At least the roadmap for the first half of 2010 anyway.

CrunchPad Reborn As JooJoo

The CrunchPad has always been mired in complications, contradictions and general commotion. Of course, those speed bumps are expected when an industry outsider tried to manufacturer a mainstream computing device. And now, the long list of complications has a new entry – legal issues.

For those who have not been keeping track – CrunchPad is Michael Arrington’s dream device. It is basically a touchscreen-based MID – a tablet that is mainly meant to browse the Internet. Arrington wanted this to be something really affordable and hence he tried to keep the cost down to $200.
