Apple Store Open In Paris And Louvre iPhone App Released

Apple sure knows how to do things in style. The latest Apple Store to open up is located in Paris and is the first French Apple Store ever. So where is this Apple Store? It is located in the Carrousel du Louvre, underneath the iconic glass pyramid that marks the entrance to the Louvre. Well, if there’s one tech company that can match the French sense of aesthetics, it is probably Apple.

The Carrousel du Louvre is a commercial area located underneath the glass pyramid and is like an underground plaza or a square that is surrounded by shops (and a place to eat). This is a very upscale area and it has history and legacy all around it. So Apple has made a debut into the country in the kind of style that only Apple can afford.

Almost to commemorate this event, the Musée du Louvre (Museum of Louvre) has released its own app on the app store. This app will let users view a selection of precious artworks that are on display at the museum on their iPhone. It also allows for looking at the palace itself from different angles and a few other things.

The app is made up of five different sections. The first is artworks, where you will find 50 precious artworks that can be found at the Louvre. Each artwork is complete with detailed information, description, views and the location of the artwork in the museum.

The next section is on The Palace. This section gives you ten views from outside and inside the palace with detailed descriptions and other content including images, text and video.

There’s a Tour feature that has seven videos that take you through the museum in full screen and full detail.

There’s a Bookmarks section in which users can store their own picks from amongst the content. The last section contains visitor’s information that will come in handy if you are planning to visit the place. It contains timetables, tariffs, services, contacts and also maps to help you along.

Over all, this is a great app for both art lovers and casual tourists alike. If you simply cannot get enough of the Louvre, this would be a fine app to have on your iPhone. And you have no excuse for not trying it out because it is up for grabs [iTunes Link] at no charge at all!
