WildCharge To Introduce Wireless Charging To Over 500K Products

wildcharge-wireless-chargerWireless charging has been a really great thing that has happened to gadgets. No longer are you required to plug something in to charge the batteries. No longer will you trip over the wire while the device is still attached. You can’t magsafe power adapters on everything you know. With wireless chargers, you can simply place the device on the charging surface and it will get charged through induction. Now that is something to look out for. The convenience of the entire thing is what is making it catch on, other than the novelty factor that is.

Scrap Email – Log Into These 5 Websites and Send Short Video Messages to Friends

ThmbNailThe day is not far off when short video messages will take over from the customary email, Tweets and SMS. Okay, it might not take over the world but it will soon find a place alongside the others. Call it convergence, as today a single way of communicating is old-hat.

For instance, you can email, chat and update your Twitter status at the same time. So, should video be left behind? Isn’t plain talking all about being face to face? Because even a short clip can convey emotions which words somehow miss out on, micro-video messaging is worth more than an occasional shot.

Every chat service is adding the video element to their rooster. But if real time chat isn’t on, video messaging can come in and fill the niche. So here are a few ways to really express yourself to your family and friends using video clips…

Google To The Rescue

ie8

Intel has always been the one to lag behind when it comes to modern Web features. The company’s majority share in the web browser market through its Internet Explorer browser has thus held back a lot of the new developments that cannot be deployed full scale because a large part of the market will not be able to use it. Google has stepped forward to help end this status quo by bringing its own Chrome rendering engine to Microsoft’s browser.

Mozilla and Apple Work On 3D Graphics For the Web

webgl

WebGL is an adaptation of the OpenGL 3D graphics standard for the web. This initiative was started by the Mozilla’s Vlad Vukicevic. This year it received a push from the Mozilla Foundation and has now been included in one of their nightly builds of the Firefox browser. Nightly builds of the Firefox browser are for developers who test them out for weeding out the bugs and injecting various enhancements.

Apple has also been working on the WebGL standard and has implemented it in its webkit engine. Apple has also invented some CSS elements for creating interactive presentations using 3D models.

OpenGL, is the standard that allows for making cross-platform 3D applications. Mostly used in games, the OpenGL standard is used to implement cross platform 3D graphics rendering using hardware. There were however, no such options for the web up until this point. The WebGL standard is being worked upon to bring the world of 3D graphics to your browser. There already are 3D games available through your browser, courtesy the initiative known as Instant Action. This project lets you play 3D online games on your Mac or PC through your browser. But this is not an example of WebGL. They use a special proprietary plugin for your browser to serve the games.

This service can however be used as an example to help you imagine what can be done using a standard like WebGL. Once it has been widely adopted by developers, true 3D graphics will become much more common on the web. Coupled with the advancements being made to the rendering engines like Webkit, this could indeed be a moment to remember in the history of the Internet.

Vlad Vukicevic built the first implementation of the concept as a plugin in the year 2007. This year he has begun using that code to help build the WebGL standard. The development has finally reached a point where the code can be merged with a nightly build of Firefox.

firefoxCurrently WebGL’s implementation can be tested in Apple’s Webkit implementation in one of the Webkit nightly builds and also in the latest Firefox nightly build. To seek more information on the matter, you can go to Vukicevic’s blog and read the instructions. Mac OS, Windows and Linux are all supported at the moment but you might have to do some tweaking.
