HTC Touch Diamond2 Review: HTC Upgrades The Popular Touch Diamond Smartphone

htc touch diamond 2: quite a sleek we got a here! The original HTC Touch Diamond was one of the highest selling Windows mobile devices in the market. It had the right features and the right looks to attract a lot of users who really liked the way the phone felt. So let’s take a look at the new and upgraded version of the Touch Diamond – the HTC Touch Diamond 2.

The HTC Touch Diamond features a slightly bigger screen and has a WVGA resolution screen displaying 480×800 pixels. The screen is slightly bigger than the Touch Diamond and measures 3.2 inches. One thing that you will notice immediately as you hold the phone is that it looks very different all the other smartphone around. It has a brushed aluminum face and a sleek design. The best way to describe the way it looks is ‘elegant and sophisticated’ as opposed to the other smart phones that look bulky in comparison. The Touch Diamond 2 is even sleeker than the first version.

The Touch Diamond 2 is more powerful than its previous incarnation. It features a Qualcomm MSM7200A processor that runs at 528MHz. It has a 512MB ROM of which 317MB is accessible and 288MB RAM of which 192MB is accessible. To put things into perspective, the specs (except the ROM part) are similar to the average desktop from about 5-7 years back. It is amazing how technology keeps on advancing in leaps and bounds.

Coming back to the Touch Diamond 2, its storage can be extended through data cards. It supports up to 16GB in the form of a single microSD card. The card slot is behind the battery cover and thankfully not underneath the battery itself.

The main camera is at the back and is a 5 MP camera without a flash. The secondary camera is a VGA camera meant for video calls and is at the front beside ear piece. The Touch Diamond 2 is a GSM quadband phone (850/900/1800/1900). It also supports HSDPA and HSUPA through dualband UMTS ((900/2100).

The resistive touchscreen makes things a bit hard to press. Thankfully, the Touch Flo UI has gone through upgrades too. So now it is a lot more customizable and user friendly. Although this fact is not apparent at the very first glance, the changes are quite apparent once you start using it. There have been small changes like adding a zoom bar at the bottom, which makes it easier to zoom in and out of web pages and photos. The home screen is now customizable with your favorite shortcuts and the start menu is now a grid that can be rearranged. So all in all it is a good upgrade that makes it even more attractive.

the touch diamond 2 in all its glory!
